Malpe, January 8, 2025: A fishing boat suffered significant damage after colliding with a large wooden log near Gangolli on Tuesday evening. Two fishermen on board were rescued by fellow fishermen from another boat.
The incident occurred when the purse-seine boat, owned by Samjatha of Malpe, was returning to Gangolli. The impact of the collision caused water to enter the boat, raising fears of it sinking.
The boat was subsequently towed towards the shore with the assistance of another vessel. The estimated loss due to the incident is Rs 65 lakhs.
